EMILY JAURY

17, INDONESIA/SAN FRANCISCO, BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION STUDENT

EMILY’S STYLE: I don’t really have a specific style that I follow every single day but I really like bold colors, edgy leather outerwear, and statement necklaces. I guess I could say that my style is a mixture of femininity and monochrome, with a little bit of edge; I always try to keep my outfits simple and avoid going too over the top.

INSPIRATION: I get a lot of inspiration from street-style blogs and Lookbook profiles. I love seeing how people can mix and match different prints or colors together and still be able to wear it without trying too hard. It is something that I’m still learning.

FAVORITE FASHION MAGAZINE: I don’t actually read a lot of fashion magazines; I’m more into reading online fashion blogs. The Blonde Salad, Fashion Toast, Poisepolish, and Cupcakes & Cashmere are a few of my favorites blogs that I open on a daily basis.

CURRENTLY: I am currently an Undergraduate student with Business Administration as my major. Being a student has always been my top priority and it typically takes most of my time, so I don’t have any current projects in fashion [aside from my lookbook] right now. However, I would definitely love to have more fashion-related opportunities, such as starting up a blog, in the future.

IF YOU HAD TO ONE WEAR PRINT FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE…  This is a hard question for me because I don’t usually use a lot of prints. But if I had to wear one print for the rest of my life, it would probably be stripes because it is always on trend no matter what the seasons are.

THIS SEASON: Summer has always been my favorite season and I always go for the bright, vibrant colors, flowing dresses, metallic pants, and denims with metal or studs details. With the hot weather, I particularly love to keep things simple and pair up basics with statement neon necklaces to spice up the outfit.

SUMMER LOVIN: I am planning to go back to Indonesia and visit my family there for the summer. Hopefully, I’ll get the chance to go to Bali, chill at the beach and break out my shorts and bikinis to fight off the heat.

MICAH’S STYLE: Evolving, personal and moody.

INSPIRATION: Blogging, my job and being in the fashion industry.

WHAT IS ONE THING YOU’D LIKE TO SEE CHANGE IN THE FASHION INDUSTRY?

I wouldn’t like to see anything changed, but some things can be improved.

STYLE CRUSH: Always changes - I admire a few different people.

IMPACT: A powerful impact and it’s constantly evolving. Whether good or bad, fashion will always have influence on people, both pro and anti-fashion. It’s become such a huge part of our daily lives.

SPRING AWAKENING: I’m based in Melbourne and here it’s fall! Fall, winter spring - I like to layer, wear lots of leather and oversized coats and boots and beanies.

SUMMER LOVIN: I like to travel for purpose, I get bored too easily but I just returned from Palm Springs and LA recently and loved it, such great places to visit.

CHLOE TING

CHLOE’S STYLE: I guess I am a bit of a chameleon when it comes to my style. Depending on the weather, my mood, or my latest wardrobe additions; I’m happy to put on an outfit that suits the occasion and how I feel, rather than stick to just several styles. Whether it’s a girly, bohemian, classy, or a grunge look, there isn’t an outfit that I wouldn’t try!

INSPIRATION:  I’m constantly inspired by other people on the streets, fashion magazines, fashion bloggers, and people I follow on lookbook.nu. They inspire me to challenge my sense of style and have taught me to have more confidence in my outfits. It’s very inspiring to see street fashion that makes a strong statement and it’s helped me grown out of my shell as I used to be quite reserved.

STYLE ICON:  It’s hard to pick just one as growing up I’ve had various style icons to look up to for different phases of my life. The one that comes to mind at this point in time would be Kate Bosworth. She has a lot of charisma in her style and it seems so effortless for her.

WHAT ASPECT OF FASHION APPEALS TO YOU THE MOST? When you wear an outfit that makes you feel stylish and confident, it is always a great feeling when other people appreciates your creativity and sense of style. This aspect of fashion appeals the most to me as it puts me in a positive state of mind and this aura can be infectious.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE WINTERTIME ACTIVITY? The one thing I love the most about winter is that you don’t sweat, or require touch ups to your makeup as often. I get to dress according to the season and enjoy hanging out with the girls drinking hot chocolate. I recently also learned to ski, which was so fun!

STAPLE ITEMS FOR WINTER:  A big chunky scarf and a good pair of platform boots are definitely a must have combo for most of my outfits.

NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS: My New Years Resolutions are to take up sewing classes as I’ve always imagine to make my own dresses, and also update my blog more often!
